I HAVE A LOVE FOR ALL THINGS HOMEMADE.

I grew up in a beach city on the coast of Southern California. No land, no gardening skills, a completely different life than what I know now… I wasn’t taught how to homestead, so I had to figure it out myself! It has been a wild ride, but I am so grateful for the knowledge I’ve gained, and I’m excited to teach you!

WHERE IT ALL STARTED.

After my mom battled breast cancer in 2019, I found that there was a good chance it stemmed from chemicals she had been exposed to through diet and other lifestyle choices. I feared if I kept going the way I was, I would end up the same. So I slowly started making more things myself after quickly realizing just how toxic many things in our daily lives are. I fell in love with making things myself, and eventually fell into the desire to be self sufficient in any way I could be… and thus, my homesteading journey was born!

Where I am Now.

I have 2 kiddos, Rush and Penny, and my husband Jake! We met in 2018 and were married in 2019. We bought our small Arizona home in early 2020, and with a pretty standard sized backyard, I decided I would find a way to homestead even on our small plot of land! It has been so fun to grow a garden, raise chickens, and find lots of new projects to take on. I once was a world traveler, but now I LOVE to be home! Welcome to The Flake Homestead!
